Our First Week of Summer

We have already had a fun summer and it has just begun. We have been to the pool about every other day. This is what Crosby usually looks like after an afternoon at the pool. Crosby wanted to play with his toys but that didn't last long. When I came back in the room he was fast alseep on the floor.



One night Cody and I went to the movies. When we went to pick Crosby up from Randi and Sydni's he informed us that he wanted to stay the night with them. This is very rare... he usually doesn't want to stay with other people overnight. Usually halfway through the afternoon he is wondering where his dad is or if Cody is watching him he is wondering where I am much less stay the night somewhere else. So, he stayed the night and had a good time. He came home with this cool bubble blower. He has played and played with it.


Last Saturday we had a neighborhood bbq. We have some really good neighbors and the kids play well together. Colt and Crosby are only like 5 mo apart so they will be in the same class in school. After we left there we went over to some other friends where he got to play with Aubryn. He had a fun filled evening... and so did we.


Then on Monday we had some friends over. The kids all play so well together and it was so great to get together with our friends as well. Oh how I love summer where our lives slow down and we can enjoy time with others. Then it started raining. Garrett was a little late because he had gone with some of the guys from church and they were hung up in Colorado because of a tornado. He had some video of it on his phone... they were way to close for any kind of comfort I thought though the pictures and video was cool to look at.

Crosby has gotten to where he really likes to eat eggs for breakfast. He likes 2 eggs scrambled with cheese and he likes to do the cooking. He will crack the eggs, stir, then he moves his chair over to the stove while I add milk. Then he stirs the eggs in the pan until they are done (with a little help from me). Today he was making them tall... he was stacking them on top of each other in the pan. Then he eats them. It is so fun to watch him have so much fun cooking. Someday I bet he will be a good cook.

Feel My Steel

Crosby will flex his muscles and say... "feel my steel". It is so cute and I may be a little partial but I think he may have some muscles. And, I am going to brag a little. Around the first of May he wasn't sleeping well. So, I decided he isn't using all of his energy up so on my walk I had him run. He ran 1.3 miles and he is 3! I thought that was great and what was even better he slept through the night without waking up and no dreams!!!


Then Luke came to visit and together they did feel my steel.

State Track Meet

Well, I am going to attempt to catch up on my blogging. Last Friday was our last day of school (YAY!!!) so I have a lot more time now. I have been looking forward to this summer because I can foresee us having a lot of fun. In May we went to the Oklahoma State Track Meet!!! There were quite a few of Texhoma kids running. Crosby really likes JD and Alexis and they both made it so we had to go. It was perfect weather and we really enjoyed it. Cody took picture while Crosby and I hung out in the stands. Crosby also loved the hotel room. We have stayed a lot in hotels lately (trip to Colorado, marathon and then track meet all in 6 weeks). He kept saying he was ready to go back to his bed. I put a couple pictures on of JD running the 110 hurdles... which he got first in, and the mile relay getting their 3rd place medals. We were very proud of them.

Run

I don't have any pictures for this but Cody and I had quite an accomplished. We completed our first half marathon (13.1 miles). The run was in Oklahoma City. Crosby got to spend the morning at the hotel with his Gumba (my mom) while we ran. It started at 6:30 am. That is SO EARLY!!! We finished.... Cody ran it in 2 hours 11 minutes. I ran in 2 hours 38 min. When we finished I said I would never run another one but now I think I will. We didn't have enough time or it was snowing to train well. The most I had run while training was 5 miles and Cody had gone 6 miles. So, we were proud of ourselves. The really cool thing was that there were 9 other Texhoma people who also ran. There were 22,000 runners total. It was really a great experience.

Wonderful Babysitter

I have the most wonderful babysitters, Randi and Sydni. Really they are like family as well. Yesterday Will had a game and I wanted to get to watch the game so Crosby got to stay with Sydni. I had told him the night before that he would get to see her tomorrow. ALL morning long he was asking when he would get to see his Sydni. Also, it has been stock show season so he hasn't gotten to see them much lately. When I pulled up to her house Crosby says "There's my Sydni." So, we go to the game and Randi is playing so we stayed longer. When I got home Sydni and Crosby had walked to the bank (got suckers) and COLORED EASTER EGGS!!! What a wonderful girl she is. We are beyond blessed to have them in our lives.

Update

Well, I have failed miserably at keeping people up to date with us... although not much has changed. I am able to sit her an get this done because Cody, Crosby and Jay went for a guys get away to Colorado and I am waiting on Lisa to get done doing her photography so that we can head to OKC for my cousins bachelorette party. There is more that I need to post. I will try and be a little more on top of things.

Cody's grandmother had her 90th birthday. Cody's family all rented a limo to take her around Amarillo for her birthday. She lives in the nursing home. We had a good time. She was surprised. We had some little wine glasses. Crosby and Kynlee has coke in theirs and they were tapping their glasses together saying something (that I forgot) instead of cheers. It was cute. People always say Crosby is always happy (which is wonderful) but there are times that he isn't happy. I thought this was a cute picture. He wanted to keep going on a walk in the stroller and I was done. He was upset.

Crosby was playing in the laundry basket the other day and it reminded me of how big he is getting. It seems like not too long ago the basket was so much bigger than him.

There was a reading conference which half of our teachers get to go together. We learn a lot and usually have a good time. Despite having the flu at the start of our trip we had a good time. This is a picture of Linda and I with a Karen, a teacher from New York who sat at our table so we invited her to come along with us. We are line dancing at the Wild Horse Saloon.



Oh and did I mention it has snowed and snowed and snowed? The moisture has been wonderful but I am ready for spring to get here. This is Crosby helping Cody shovel snow and Cody out taking hay to the horses.

100 years

Last month... I know I am behind... we went out to Oslo to church because it was 100 years ago on that Sunday that Oslo started as a church. I think that is so neat to know a little history about my family and still have such ties to so long ago. Oslo is something that I am proud of as so many years ago these Norwegian families came to Texas for land... and we are still here. Here is a picture of my siblings on that Sunday as well as Cody, Crosby and I. Also in the picture you have to notice the wonderful Texas panhandle wind. I should add that this summer on July 18 we are having a BIG 100 years celebration at Oslo if anyone is interested in coming. Also my mom put together a really nice history book of Oslo if anyone is interested.

Chef

The other morning we were getting ready for a potluck at church. Crosby was so kind to help me. I thought he looked so cute in his apron stirring. He loves to help cook. He also loves to lick the beaters when we make something sweet. His daddy taught him that at a very young age. Hopefully he will grow up and be a good cook.

New Year

During Christmas we received a wonderful card. It has a wonderful handwritten message that I want to share. It is something that I want to strive for this year...
May 2010 be filled with happy surprises and the fulfillment of many of your dreams.
Trust life.
Have faith.
Enjoy wonder.
Comfort a friend.
Laugh heartily.
Cry when you need to.
Think freely.
See a sunrise.
Tell those that you love that you do.

Where is Crosby?

If you wonder... what does Crosby do while he is at home? He loves to play hide-n-find. There really isn't any seeking to this. He will burrow under the pillows on our bed and you are supposed to say "Where is Crosby?" Then he will say "Here I am!" He has a blast at it. Sometime he will hide under his blanket in the living room. He really loves it when Randi and Sydni come over because they really play hide-and-seek. He loves it and it is fun to watch where he decides to hide and shockingly he will find the girls even when they are hidden really well.

Christmas 2009

This Christmas was wonderful. Cody, Crosby, Poppy and I ate crepes with strawberries Christmas eve morning. I love them and growing up loved when my dad would make them. So, I decided that would become one of our Christmas traditions. Crosby was a little confused.... he only wanted syrup on them. I think he thought they were a pancake and syrup goes on pancakes. Then we opened our presents and headed over to moms where we ate lunch and opened presents. Then that evening we went to the Christmas Eve service at Oslo. After church we went to dad's and opened presents. While there Crosby got his train track that he carried the box around everywhere. We didn't get home until 10:30 but we had to put together the train track (I did it along with instructions.) He played on it until midnight. The only way Cody got Crosby to go to bed was tell him that the train needed to sleep. Then the next morning Santa came and brought Crosby a big tractor with a grain cart. Then we went to Amarillo where we had Christmas at the nursing home with Mamaw. It was a lot of fun and Crosby was so tired and exhausted when we left.

Crosby saying HoHoHo which usually sounded like Ho-O-O... kind of like he was laughing. One day Cody was going to Guymon. He told Crosby to get a hat and go with him. Crosby chose the Santa hat.

Oslo Christmas

Last night we had our Oslo Christmas. It is one of my very favorite days of the whole year. It is like having one big family Christmas and it is only about once a year that we all get to see each other. We missed Paul and Barbara (she was having shoulder surgery that day.) We also missed Luke who is in Costa Rica, Chad and Andrea. We had a fun time anyway. I have put some pictures on to show us all. Each year we take a picture by the fireplace. It is crazy that none of us has aged... we still look the same as the one 5 years ago. Well... maybe we have changed a little and there are definitely more kids now. I put the picture of Charlie and Crosby in because I thought it was so cute. Even though Crosby doesn't get to see Charlie very often when he does... he loves Charlie.

Sweets

Christmas can't be Christmas without sweets. So, yesterday Randi came over and we cooked all day. We made carmel popcorn, decorated sugar cookies and made Kaycee her peanut butter balls. All of it was very enjoyable. I had to do something I am not good at doing and I just had to let Randi and Crosby make the cutouts and decorations as they liked without me hovering. Crosby loved cutting the cookies out and the decorating was fun... but I had to tell him we don't put the whole thing of sprinkles on one cookie. He would put tons on the cookies then the ones that fell off he ate. The picture of Crosby rolling his hands together he really learned to make them into balls.

Update

It has been forever since I have posted anything. It has been busy around here. We try and go to the basketball games which keeps us really busy. We had both of our families here at Thanksgiving. It was wonderful.... and we have so much to be thankful for. We have been getting ready for Christmas. I love this time of year. It makes me so happy. Lately Crosby has been really into coloring. I put a picture of him on here coloring. Also, he loves Santa. Crosby thinks Santa is good for candy... oh if he only knew. Cody brought Crosby up to the school because Santa had stopped by to take pictures with the kids. Cody said when Crosby walked in the door and saw him he ran to him to give him a hug. Then he was able to see Santa again in Amarillo at Bivins when he went out there to see Mamaw. What a wonderful day for a little guy. Oh and did I mention we are now an underwear wearing boy. He even can wear them through the night which doesn't always make for peaceful sleeps when he comes in at 2:00 in the morning to let me know he needs to potty. Oh well... at least he goes:)

Pancakes

While we were in Colorado for our 5th anniversary we did some shopping. While in Williams and Sanoma we found these cool pancake molds along with the pancake poorer. We got the animal molds. So, Sunday morning we made them. Crosby helped stir while I put the ingredients into the bowl. Crosby thought they were cool but didn't just want one... he wanted all the different animals at the same time. He got upset when he only got a lion and monkey. It was fun though.

Costume

This year Crosby was a cowboy for Halloween. Cody had wanted him to be Spiderman but how could I pass up this costume? We found it while in Colorado so I had to get it. The day after Halloween we had to go to Guymon and Crosby wanted the baby horse (the costume) to ride in the back seat with him. I was glad he liked the costume. Kennedy is one of Crosby's bestfriends... she was Hannah Montana but had lost the wig by this time.

Dogs

Well, we have been so busy so these pictures were taken about a month ago. As some of you know, Cody got me a puppy (I know, shocking for those of you know that really know me and know that I am not a dog lover) but Harley was wonderful! I got Harley when Cody and I had been dating for a year. Well, Harley died earlier this year. In September Cody came home with... another schnauzer. I had wanted my next schnauzer to be a toy and he found one in Amarillo. Stills, yes that is the new puppies name, may end up not being a toy but he is a wonderful puppy. Him and Crosby are so cute... well, I think Crosby annoys him more than anything but it is cute to watch. You are probably thinking what a weird name Stills is. Well, let me explain. I don't know how many people have asked us if we named Crosby after the band... No, we did not. I hadn't even heard of them until we had Crosby. Since everyone asks us that we decided to name our border collie Nash and our schnauzer Stills. So, we did name our dogs after the group. And at times in the backyard we have Crosby, Stills and Nash. So, this is a picture of Crosby, Stills and Nash :)

One day I looked in the backyard and Crosby was pushing Stills around the backyard in his dump truck. I thought it was so cute... I'm sure Stills didn't find it so cute.

Sat. night

Saturday night we went to Erika's. Crosby played really good with Pratt. It was fun sitting around and visiting. Not many from our class showed up but it was fun anyway. It was even better because the kids were so good. As you can see Crosby loves Erika.

Class of '99

I know it is hard to believe I am this old but we had our 10 year reunion last weekend. Just kidding I know I am not that old. It was a lot of fun. 19 of the 32 classmates (actually 31 because one guy didn't graduate) showed up. Charlie and Luke did not come which saddened me but those who did show up we had a good time! It was fun catching up with everyone and I really enjoyed meeting spouses. On Friday night we went to Jason's house which is funny because he lives in Brent and Julie's old house which is where I spent my majority of high school at.

Football Game

My favorite team is the Denver Broncos. Cody's favorite teams is the Dallas Cowboys. Last weekend they played each other in Denver. Poppy has season tickets so we were able to attend the game. The seats are really good too which makes the game even better. They are on the third row in the behind the goal post. Only one touchdown was not scored in our end zone. It was a great game that came down to 9 seconds left... but the Broncos came out ahead...yay!!! We had a lot of fun!
While there we stayed at Granny and Bob's. There are a couple pictures of us with them and at their house.
